Marimira Factory with its 600 members is among the coffee factories that make the larger Iyego co-operative society. The factory was started in 1966 being the fourth factory after Gatubu factory. The factory is located in a well maintained and conserved natural ecological region with a broad variety of flora and fauna this includes wild animals e.g. antelopes jackals hares etc indigenous trees like Muringa and Muiri, bushes, shrubs and birds like weaver birds, sparrow and crows among others.
In line with the rising awareness on the need to conserve the environment the factory has initiated a couple of projects among these are the waste water soak pits. Here the water is allowed to soak in back to the soil.
