Kenya Ngomano

Cooperative Coffee

Ngomano FCS is located in Machakos County. In this area, the majority of the coffee is harvested in a slightly different time than most of the other regions in Kenya.

Machakos is also known for its Mango production. Beside coffee, most of the farmers also have other crops such as mango, avocado or maize. The cherries are sorted before being pulped. The parchment is then fermented overnight, before being washed and graded into P1, P2, P3, P lights and pods. After that, it is dried on the drying tables for 8-14 days. Most of the farmers are taking the coffee pulps back to the farms to use them as fertilizers.
