Brazil – Sítio Hott Amorim

Family History

In 1989, Zilma married farmer Antônio Amorim. Antônio inherited about 8 hectares (2 acres) of unused land, where the couple decided to build their home and start growing coffee. Before their marriage, Zilma had been a primary school teacher with experience in vegetable farming, but she saw coffee as a more stable and secure crop compared to the unpredictable vegetable harvests.

Together, they raised four children—Marconi, Jordana, Nara, and William. Zilma worked tirelessly as a teacher, mother, and coffee grower until her retirement, and she is still fondly remembered by her former students.

Today, three of their children and their spouses work on the family farm. Antônio focuses on fieldwork, while Zilma, with great dedication, oversees the coffee drying process—her favorite task. Her precision and care ensure the high quality of their coffee. It is this devotion, combined with the Amorim family’s history, that makes their coffee truly unique.
