In January 13th of 2015 some coffee producers of the region of Villacorzo saw an opportunity to add value to their coffee by forming an association that will prevent the combination of their coffee with other low quality. So, they founded the “Productores Agroecologicos de Villacorzo SPR de RI” that started with 57 indigenous producers. At the same year the association joined the program of Café California “Por mas Café” to replant almost all their farms that were affected by the roya in 2014. With the technical advice from Café California the association started to encourage the ecological farming practices that will prevent the damage to the endemic flora and fauna of the area and will add value to their coffee.
